October is American Archives Month: Hidden Connections

Blogs across the Smithsonian will give an inside look at the Institution’s archival collections and practices during a month long blog-a-thon in celebration of October’s American Archives Month. See additional posts from our other participating blogs, as well as related events and resources, on the Smithsonian’s Archives Month website.

It’s that time of year again! The Smithsonian collections blog is excited to celebrate American Archives month with our yearly blog-a-thon. During past years the month of October has been dedicated to true stories in the archives, revealing hidden treasures and how people can discover and connect. This year our theme is Hidden Connections. With 14 contributing repositories, the archivists, librarians and museum specialists at the Smithsonian will be highlighting many of the hidden connections within our own materials but also connections we have found across our many varied collections. This month we’re looking forward to sharing the exciting, behind the scenes stories that connects our work with you!

Remember to check back every weekday for new content and be on the lookout for many more Archives Month events, starting today with #Askanarchivist day!
