New web exhibit!

16mm "trim" from Casabindo
The Human Studies Film Archives (HSFA) has a new web exhibit on the Jorge Prelorán Collection.  Visitors to the exhibit can watch video clips, read about Prelorán's career, and explore his filmography via a world map.

Prelorán worked largely in his native country of Argentina, but also in Ecuador, Columbia, Venezuela, and the United States. Though Prelorán is best known as an ethnographic filmmaker, his works include a range of documentary, educational, narrative, and experimental films, as well as digital books.

  1. The exhibit is fantastic! I'm really impressed and particularly excited because of some related documents I've come across in my work.
Jorge Prelorán developed a professional and personal relationship with Ralph Rinzler, former Director of the Center For Folklife and Cultural Heritage. It appears this relationship stemmed from a presentation by Prelorán that Rinzler attended at UCLA in 1970.

  3. Thanks for the kind words about the web exhibit. I'm delighted to learn about the materials in Ralph Rinzler's papers. We also have some correspondence with Rinzler in the Prelorán papers. They seem to have admired one another very much.

It's great to make this connection between collections!
